A stranger asked to eat lunch on a porch. She said yes.

A tired fast-food worker in Florida knocked on a stranger's door and asked to eat her lunch break on the porch. The homeowner said yes, and the two have been close friends ever since.

Dara works at a Wendy's in Palm Beach County, Florida. During an overwhelming shift, she needed a quiet place to catch her breath on her break. Rather than trek all the way home, she wandered into a nearby neighborhood and, working up her courage, rang the doorbell of a house she had never seen before.

Homeowner Abigail Mwaungulu answered through her video doorbell. Dara explained that she worked at the Wendy's down the street and asked if she could simply sit on the porch to eat. Abigail didn't hesitate: "Yeah, that's fine."

The footage, which Abigail later shared online, was watched by millions of people moved by such a small act of trust. The next day, Abigail walked over to the Wendy's to check in on Dara in person.

What began as one hard shift turned into a real friendship that neither woman expected. Sometimes the kindest thing you can offer a stranger is simply a yes.
